The Antique Circle U. S. A., Inc., conceived
in January, 1992, has successfully accomplished the following projects
to date:
1. Scholarship Grants to poor but
deserving students- The grantees hail from the different towns of
Antique. We have recipients who have successfully graduated from college
and are now career men and women in their chosen fields.
2. Adopt-A- Student Program - Launched in
2000, this is an ongoing program and is the most personally benefiting
program that sponsors can easily afford to support and be identified
with. The program calls for a member or non-member to SPONSOR a high
school student in Antique in the amount of $60.00 a year. A sponsor may
elect to choose a scholar from any of the top five applicants from any
high school in Antique. To date, we have 15 Sponsors covering ten (10)
high schools in Antique.
3. Fiesta Antiqueña - This is aimed at
showcasing our cultural heritage by donning our native costumes like the
barong, kimona or patadyong. It is also during this fiesta that we get
to display our native products, promote our local industry and listen to Filipino and Visayan
songs composed by talented Antiqueños.
4. ACUSA Website - ACUSA's website can be
accessed in the internet at www.acusainc.org Everyone is encouraged to
communicate with fellow ACUSANS and Antiqueños worldwide. The website is
of a low-maintenance design and new features will be added only as
needed. In a true bayanihan spirit, nine (9) ACUSA members take turn
paying for the monthly lease on the web server slot and domain name.
5. Medical Mission to Antique Province -
ACUSA was the principal sponsor of the mission in 2002, assisted by
Pandan Antique Foundation and Pagtatap, U.S.A. During this mission,
approximately 2,576 patients were seen in consultations and received treatments
- including major and minor surgical operations - in
the towns of San Jose, Culasi and Pandan. The Texas Association
of Philippine Physicians performed the medical services and, together with Antique Circle U.S.A., contributed
to the financing of this mission.
6. Centennial Celebration in Los Angeles -
ACUSA was the recipient of the Most Symbolic Float Award from the
Philippine Centennial Committee which is sponsored by the Philippine
Consulate based in LA. The float was the product of the
collaborative ideas of Anting Pagunsan, Sonia Capadocia and Alberto "Bimboy"
Javier, Jr. (The
designer), a University of the Philippines Fine Arts graduate. ACUSANS
presented and participated in the Ati-Atihan in 1998. Choreographer
SONIA CAPADOCIA (now deceased) trained the ACUSA "atis" for its
Ati-Atihan-themed street presentation, complemented by her dance troupe,
which had previously performed in some countries in Europe, performing
in their colorful native costumes and terpsichorean grace, along the
parade route, to the delight and applause of appreciative crowd.
7. Donation of two (2) hospital wards and a
pediatric ward at the Salazar Memorial Hospital in San Jose, Antique.
(2001). The air-conditioned wards have been in full operation and are
generating revenues for the hospital. Additionally, ACUSA has also donated
linens and beddings.
8. Donation of hospital ward to the Ramon
Maza Memorial Hospital in Sibalom, Antique (2003). The ACUSA building
has already been inaugurated and now serves the needs
of the residents of Sibalom and its neighboring towns.
9. Health Center in Culasi Central School.
(2003) It has been in full operation and now serves the health needs of the
student body and staff of the school.
10. Book drive - ACUSA has collected books
for distribution to libraries in Antique. This is an ongoing project. We
also solicit computers, electric fans, school supplies, etc.
11. Feeding program - ACUSA has sponsored a
"Feeding " program to cater to the malnourished pupils of Ruperto
Abellon Memorial School in Patnongon, Antique.

ACUSA QUEENS (Minette and
Jeanette Tayco from West Covina, California) riding on the float,
followed by Antique's Finest Bands. 13. The white-washed concrete stage, at the San Remegio Central School in the town of San Remegio, Antique, is the latest donation of ACUSA. It is complete with a concrete pavement which serves as pathway. It was inaugurated in April 2006 by ACUSA 2006 Queen, Rannah Nietes-Alcalen, who raised most of the money for the project
